In the Russian Federation, a conscript died after refusing to sign a contract; the family does not believe the official version

In the Sverdlovsk region of Russia, 20-year-old conscript Maksym Myronov, who died in the Kursk region under unclear circumstances after refusing to sign a contract with the Russian Ministry of Defense, was buried. This is reported by Astra, writes UNN.

Details

According to the publication, Myronov was conscripted for military service in October 2025 and sent to Naro-Fominsk in the Moscow region. In April, he told his mother that the command was pressuring him to sign a contract. After his refusal, the soldier was transferred to the border district of the Kursk region, where he continued his service as a conscript.

Death was reported a few days later

Myronov last made contact on May 9, informing his family that officers were taking away soldiers' phones. Already on May 15, an unknown officer called his mother and reported the death of her son.

According to the official notice that the family received at the end of May, the cause of death was allegedly a "self-inflicted shot" on May 13. The soldier's body was delivered in a sealed zinc coffin and they were forbidden to open it.

Relatives doubt the official version

Despite the ban, the family opened the coffin. According to relatives, the deceased had a through-and-through gunshot wound to the head, a missing eye, and significant facial damage, while no other injuries were found on the body.

Myronov's family suspects that the conscript may have been killed. As Astra claims, the soldier's personal belongings have not yet been returned to his relatives, citing the need for investigative actions. According to relatives, the military investigator stated that he is considering the version of improper handling of weapons.
