The Security Service of Ukraine detained a Russian agent who, on the order of the Russian Federation, was preparing terrorist attacks near the territorial center of recruitment and social support and the district police department in the Poltava region.
UNN writes about this with a reference to the SBU.
The counterintelligence of the Security Service prevented a series of terrorist attacks in the Poltava region. As a result of a special operation in the region, a Russian agent was detained who was preparing explosions near local administrative buildings of Ukrainian military and law enforcement officers
The SBU reported that the defendant received an order from the Russian Federation to carry out explosions near the district police department and the city TCC during rush hour. It was established that the attacker was supposed to lay an improvised explosive device (IED) near the state institution.
At the time of the mining of the administrative building, the invaders planned to blow up the explosives together with the agent. SBU officers exposed the enemy's intentions in advance and detained the terrorist.
The investigation also established that the perpetrator of the order was a 30-year-old unemployed woman from the Poltava region, who was looking for "easy money" in an online casino, where she was recruited by a Russian curator.
In order to carry out the enemy's intentions, the agent received money from the curator to rent a conspiracy apartment and to purchase components for the manufacture of explosives. Then she received instructions from her curator on how to make an IED, which she hid in a kettle and "reinforced" with additional striking elements. The woman also equipped the explosive device with an electronic device with remote access for the occupiers.
During the searches, the detainee's components for explosives and a mobile gadget with evidence of her contacts with the Russian curator were seized.
SBU investigators informed the suspect of suspicion under two articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine:
- Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 258 (preparation for a terrorist act);
- Part 2 of Article 28, Part 1 of Article 263 (illegal handling of explosives).
The attacker is in custody. She faces up to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property.
