In Russia, after a drone attack, one of the largest units at the Novoufimsky Refinery, owned by Rosneft, was shut down. This refers to the CDU-5 primary oil refining unit, which accounts for about 28% of the enterprise's capacity, UNN reports with reference to Reuters.

Details

According to the agency, a fire at the plant occurred on Thursday, April 2, after a Ukrainian drone attack. Due to this, the enterprise was forced to shut down one of its largest primary oil refining units.

The head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, reported the day before that several Ukrainian drones were shot down near oil refineries in Ufa, and fragments of one of them fell in an industrial zone. At the same time, he did not specify which plant was the target of the attack.

According to Reuters, citing three industry sources, the fire occurred at the CDU-5 unit of the Novoufimsky oil refinery. It provides about 28% of the refinery's total capacity.

The plant belongs to Rosneft. The company did not provide a comment in response to the agency's request. It is known that the enterprise operates three more primary oil refining units.

According to industry sources, in 2024, the Novoufimsky Refinery processed 3.8 million tons of oil, or about 76 thousand barrels per day. This accounts for 1.4% of the total oil refining volume in Russia. During the same period, the plant produced 1.2 million tons of gasoline, 2.6 million tons of diesel fuel, and 1.1 million tons of fuel oil.

Reuters also notes that over the past month, Ukraine has intensified strikes on Russia's energy infrastructure in an attempt to weaken its economy.

Recall

Recently, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine officially confirmed the successful strike on the oil refinery in Ufa. The enemy's training ground and other enemy facilities were also hit.
