The accident occurred on July 11 in the Valea Alba area near the resort town of Busteni. According to rescuers, the climbers fell from a height of about 10 meters. Three conscious men were evacuated to the hospital by two SMURD helicopters, where they are receiving medical care.

According to the prefect of Prahova County, Daniel Nicodim, a group of four people was rock climbing accompanied by an instructor. The breaking of the safety rope was the cause of the fall. The instructor, who was nearby, provided first aid to the victims before the rescuers arrived.
The rescue operation involved two SMURD helicopters, a Black Hawk helicopter with a medical team, as well as ground units of emergency services. The police have opened a criminal investigation on charges of involuntary manslaughter and negligent bodily harm and are establishing all the circumstances of the tragedy.
