President Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has already hindered Russia by forcing it to seek fuel imports through strikes on refineries. He suggested that the first Russian president, Boris Yeltsin, would have chosen a different successor knowing about the current fuel crisis.
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that just a few years ago it was hard to imagine a situation where Russia, which for decades built its economy on energy exports, would be forced to seek opportunities to import fuel. He said this while answering journalists' questions, reports UNN.

The President also ironically recalled the first president of Russia, Boris Yeltsin, who led the country from 1991 to 1999 and at the end of his presidential term named Vladimir Putin as his successor. According to Zelenskyy, the current fuel crisis in the Russian Federation would hardly meet the expectations of the then Russian leadership.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the current situation is a consequence of Ukraine's strikes on Russian oil refining infrastructure.
The question of whether Ukraine can, through diplomatic or other efforts, prevent the supply of fuel to Russia from neutral countries sounds like a historical anecdote. A country like Russia, whose economy has always been oriented towards exporting its energy resources, is now busy finding fuel somewhere, somehow increasing the possibility of purchasing fuel imports.
