Iceland announces support for Ukrainian military in IT and demining

Iceland has joined two coalitions in support of Ukraine - the IT Coalition and the Mine Action Coalition - and will allocate €340,000 for medicines.

It is noted that since the beginning of Russia's full-scale invasion in Ukraine, Iceland has provided humanitarian, economic and security support to Ukraine mainly through international organizations such as the UN, the World Bank, NATO and other multinational forums.

Minister of Defense Defense Minister Rustem Umerov thanked the government and people of Iceland for their strong support support that Ukraine can use to strengthen its information technology communications and cybersecurity, as well as to have the necessary training and equipment for demining.

Currently the IT Coalition consists of eight countries: Estonia, Luxembourg, Belgium, Denmark, Iceland, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, and the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom and Italy have also announced their intention to join.
