Prosecutors are identifying the perpetrators of war crimes in the Kharkiv region based on the facts of air strikes on civilians.
When asked about the announcement of suspicions to the commanders of the Russian Armed Forces, the head of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office said the following:
Measures are being taken to bring to criminal responsibility three commanders of the 6th Army of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Russian Aerospace Forces, who ordered the bombing of Kharkiv in May and June 2024. He is a native of the city of Chuhuiv. It is stated that Makovetsky directly gave orders to pilot Kryshtopa, who bombed the cities of Kharkiv region, killing many civilians, including children. According to the investigation, Makovetsky directly ordered the bombing and destruction of the Oskil dam. He is suspected under Article 441 of the Criminal Code (ecocide).
In addition, the issue of serving a notice of suspicion to Russian war criminals over the shelling of Chuhuiv district with Grad rocket launchers is being resolved.
There, the chief of staff, deputy commander of the 18th motorized rifle division of the 11th Army Corps of the Baltic Fleet of the Western Military District, Lazarev, gave orders, and the suspicions were confirmed. He gave orders to the battalion to shell civilian objects directly. Three people were killed, many were injured, and a number of civilian objects were destroyed
There are agreed suspicions about the torture chambers in Balakliya. There are 5 suspicions in the village of Dovhalivka, Balakliya district, where there were killings and torture of civilians.
