Ukraine's military intelligence has carried out a cyberattack on Russia's tax system, compromising central and regional servers, destroying configuration files and paralyzing communications within the tax agency. This led to serious operational disruptions that could last for more than a month.

Cyber units of the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine have conducted another successful special operation in Russia - this time they attacked the tax system of the aggressor state, UNN reports citing the DIU.

Details

During the special operation, military intelligence officers managed to penetrate one of the well-protected key central servers of the Federal Tax Service (FTS), and then - more than 2300 of its regional servers throughout Russia, as well as in the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea.

As a result of the cyberattack, all servers received malware.

At the same time, the Russian IT company Office.ed-it.ru, which served the Russian Federal Tax Service, was attacked in the same way.

As a result of the two cyberattacks, the configuration files that have been ensuring the functioning of the extensive tax system of the Russian Federation for years were completely eliminated - the entire database and its backup copies were destroyed.

Communication between the central office in Moscow and 2300 Russian territorial departments is paralyzed, as well as between the Federal Tax Service and Office.ed-it.ru, which was a data center (data bank) for the tax authorities.

In fact, we are talking about the complete destruction of the infrastructure of one of the main state bodies of terrorist Russia and numerous related tax data for a long time period.

Internet traffic of tax data throughout Russia has fallen into the hands of Ukraine's military intelligence.

The Russians have been trying to restore the tax service for the fourth day in a row without success. Experts estimate that the paralysis of the Russian Federal Tax Service will last at least a month. At the same time, it is impossible to resuscitate the tax system of the aggressor state in full.

The cyberattack by the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine was another serious blow to the regime in the Kremlin, which for some time lost control over taxes and fees.

To recap,

Ukraine's military intelligence recently conducted a successful cyber operation against the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) and gained access to classified service data of the Russian agency.
