Government extends deadline for identification of IDP pensioners
Kyiv • UNN
Ukraine extends the deadline for physical verification of IDP pensioners until March 31, 2024, which will allow pension payments to continue until the moment of identification.
The Cabinet of Ministers has extended until March 31, 2024 the deadline for physical verification of pensioners who became IDPs before the full-scale war. This was reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine.
Details
The Ministry emphasizes that the rule of physical identification for all recipients of pensions and social benefits has been in effect in Ukraine since 2004.
It is necessary to verify whether the person receiving funds from the state is really alive and whether the person to whom they were intended receives the payment.
As the quarantine was lifted on July 1, 2023, the requirement for IDP pensioners to be identified in order to continue receiving their pensions was restored. However, in order to give these people more time and opportunities to complete the identification process, the government extended the deadline until December 31, 2024, and on December 27, it extended it further, until March 31, 2024
Addendum
Given that some Ukrainians are unable to physically visit a bank branch or a Pension Fund office during the war, the ways of passing physical identification have been significantly expanded.
The tools available today allow for the identification both remotely and in person by visiting a banking institution or the Pension Fund. This means that pensioners in this category have until this date to complete the identification process, during which time their pensions will continue to be paid.
The specified period of 3 months must be used to pass the identification in a convenient way, online, offline or via video conference .
The Ministry of Social Policy explained that in case of failure to identify, the pension will be accumulated on the pensioner's current account until the identification is completed.
After passing, the entire amount of the pension will be transferred to the pensioner's account from the month in which the financing of the payment ceased.
This is to avoid misuse and situations where another person can use the funds by gaining access to the card and PIN.
Recall
Ukraine's Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko reported that Ukraine may have to postpone payments to civil servants and pension payments to millions of its citizens if the EU and the US do not provide promised financial aid early next year.
