Finland allowed transit of nuclear weapons through the country

President of Finland Alexander Stubb signed amendments to the law on nuclear energy, which will allow the import and transit of nuclear weapons through the country's territory. This is reported on the website of the Finnish parliament, informs UNN.

Details

It is noted that the law will come into force on July 1 and will cancel the current bans on such operations.

At the same time, according to the document, after the law comes into force, Finland will continue to adhere to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons and other international obligations.

The law on nuclear energy, adopted in 1987, banned the import, production, storage, and detonation of nuclear explosive substances on the territory of Finland.
