There are shortages in the power system due to, among other things, lower temperatures and emergency repairs. "Ukrenergo is forced to bring in emergency aid from Europe. Ukrainians are being urged to reduce consumption to avoid the use of blackout schedules. This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, UNN reports.
Lower temperatures, emergency repairs, and limited operation of solar power plants due to cloudy weather. All of this has led to the fact that our power system is currently experiencing a power shortage. "Ukrenergo is forced to attract emergency assistance from Europe
According to the Prime Minister, this is an emergency measure, but not always guaranteed.
Therefore, Ukrainians are urged to reduce electricity consumption, especially from 9:00 to 19:00.
As noted by Ukrenergo, this is simply necessary:
- turn off "unnecessary" lights in the premises;
- do not turn on several powerful appliances at once. For example, a boiler, a washing machine, and an iron. And during lunchtime, do not turn on the kettle and microwave together;
- if the air temperature in the room is comfortable, turn off air conditioners and heaters;
- unplug chargers if they have already charged your gadgets.
The Prime Minister noted that shopping centers, shops, and restaurants can reduce the intensity of lighting on signs and shop windows. Enterprises can review their production process in terms of energy efficiency.
All of this will avoid the introduction of blackout schedules. Responsible electricity consumption by each of us is a light for everyone
He also said that Ukraine is engaging the help of partners to strengthen generation.
Addendum
To get rid of the electricity shortage and maintain the balance between consumption and production, Ukrenergo used emergency assistance from Romania, Poland, and Slovakia from 11:00 to 19:00 today.
