A Major of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was detained in Odesa for extorting 100,000 hryvnias for the acceptance of field rations. The court ordered his arrest with bail set at over 900,000 hryvnias.

In Odesa, law enforcement officers detained the head of a food warehouse at one of the Armed Forces of Ukraine supply centers, who is suspected of extorting 100,000 hryvnias for the "unhindered" acceptance of food rations for Ukrainian servicemen. This was reported by the Prosecutor General's Office, according to UNN.

According to the investigation, the individual in question is a major responsible for verifying and processing documents during the supply of daily field food rations for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The prosecutor's office notes that the state contract with the State Rear Operator exceeded 50 million hryvnias.
The investigation believes that during the acceptance of the first batch of goods, the official began artificially delaying procedures, initiated additional inspections not provided for by the contract, and blocked the signing of necessary documents.
Subsequently, according to law enforcement, he demanded 100,000 hryvnias for the further "trouble-free" execution of the contract.
On May 8, 2024, he was detained immediately after receiving the funds
The official was notified of suspicion of receiving an improper benefit combined with extortion.
The court ordered a preventive measure in the form of detention with an alternative bail of 915,200 hryvnias.
