The Public Health Agency of Canada has confirmed one case of hantavirus infection among passengers of a cruise ship where an outbreak was previously recorded. This was reported by the Associated Press with reference to the Public Health Agency of Canada, according to UNN.

The agency stated that the positive test result was confirmed after additional research at the National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg. Previously, British Columbia authorities had reported only a "presumptive positive" result.

A couple from Yukon is in the hospital

The Canadian agency specified that a second person who was in contact with the infected individual tested negative. Both – a married couple in their 70s from the Yukon territory – are in a hospital in the city of Victoria.
