The recall includes some crossovers of the German automaker, including the X1 and X5 models, as well as some BMW 5 sedans.
It is noted that dealers will inspect and replace the water pump and connector free of charge, as well as install a protective shield in the recalled cars.
The NHTSA reported that BMW has been informed of 18 complaints, concerns or incidents in the field, but there have been no accidents or injuries related to the risk of short circuits in the listed models.
