About 2.6 thousand trucks are queuing in Poland towards the border with Ukraine

As of this morning, about 2.6 thousand trucks were queuing in Poland towards the border with Ukraine amid the blockade of Polish carriers. More than 1.2 thousand trucks crossed the border in both directions at the unblocked Yagodyn checkpoint over the past day. This was reported by the spokesman for the State Border Guard Service, Andriy Demchenko, during a telethon on Friday, an UNN correspondent reports.

The situation on the border with Poland is the most difficult, as three directions - the checkpoints "Rava-Ruska", "Krakivets" and  "Shehyni" - continue to be blocked. As of the morning, according to the information we have from our Polish colleagues, there are about 2 600 trucks in the queues at these three directions towards Ukraine,

Demchenko said.

Details

According to him, the largest number of trucks is in the queues opposite the Shehyni checkpoint.

"But there is a fairly good, positive trend at the Yahodyn checkpoint. As you know, it was unblocked on December 11, and gradually the cargo flow was increasing every day. Yesterday, more than 1,200 trucks crossed the border in both directions. More in the direction of Ukraine, and these are, in fact, almost the same figures as before the blockade," said Demchenko.

He noted that there is still a fairly large number of vehicles in the queue - 1,700 in Poland towards Ukraine, but if such traffic continues, it will allow for faster crossing of the border in both directions than before.

Addendum

Polish carriers began blocking four border crossings with Ukraine on November 6. Later, the blockade was expanded to include one more checkpoint.

On December 11, Polish strikers unblocked the Yagodyn-Dorogusk border crossing with Ukraine.
