Australia tests combat drone improved by experience of war in Ukraine

During the Southern Jackaroo exercises, the Australian Army tested the Vector AI reconnaissance drone, created by the German company Quantum Systems and improved based on combat experience gained during the war in Ukraine. This was reported by Defense Blog, writes UNN.

Details

The drone is used for deep reconnaissance, target detection, and transmitting coordinates for artillery and drone strikes. The publication notes that the platform has undergone thousands of hours of combat use in Ukraine, which allowed it to be adapted for operation in conditions of electronic warfare and countering air defense systems.

It also means we will put our soldiers within direct fire range and risk compromise

– said 2nd Cavalry Regiment drone operator Harrison Hinson, explaining the advantages of using drones instead of ground reconnaissance.

According to him, the modern battlefield requires constantly assuming that the enemy is conducting surveillance, so the military must pay more attention to camouflaging their positions.
