The Australians finished the group stage in second place in Group D with four points. The leader of the quartet was the USA, which earned six points thanks to two wins in the first rounds. Turkey, despite its victory over the Americans in the last match, finished fourth and ended its participation in the tournament.
Paraguay also earned four points, but due to a worse goal difference, it took third place in the group. At the same time, the team has not yet lost its chances of reaching the playoffs, as it can advance to the Round of 16 as one of the eight best third-placed teams. The final fate of the Paraguayans will be determined after the completion of matches in other groups.
