Askania-Nova Reserve under occupation is in critical condition - National Resistance Center
Kyiv • UNN
The Askania-Nova Nature Reserve in Russia-occupied Ukraine is in a critical condition due to the actions of the occupiers, including hunting for unique animals, the abduction of animals to Russia and Crimea, the threat of fires and damage from military operations and military equipment.
The Askania-Nova reserve, which is located in the Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine, is in critical condition. This was reported by the Center of National Resistance, UNN writes.
Details
The Resistance noted that the occupiers themselves have already started talking about the critical situation. In particular, the occupation authorities' handler, animal thief Oleh Zubkov, appealed to all Russian reserves and zoos to share their animal stock in order to at least somehow fill the almost destroyed unique reserve
From the first hours of the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops on February 24, 2022, Askania Nova found itself in a zone of temporary occupation. 44% of the area of the nature reserve fund of Ukraine was at risk due to potential fires, hostilities, and the passage of military equipment. Moreover, the occupiers hunted unique animals here
It is noted that the occupation administration stole animals from the Kherson reserve "Askania-Nova" and transported them to Russia and Crimea. The theft took place within the framework of a "cooperation agreement". The agreement is not valid, as it was drawn up by the occupiers themselves.
Addendum
The Resistance calls on all Ukrainians to report enemies and collaborators by following the link. The National Resistance Center also emphasized that all those involved in environmental crimes will be held accountable after the de-occupation of the region.
Recall
The Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources Ruslan Strelets said that as of today the environmental damage caused by Russia amounts to more than UAH 2.4 trillion.
