Almost 700 settlements in Ukraine are without electricity due to bad weather and hostilities

Due to hostilities and technical reasons, 443 settlements in Ukraine are without electricity. Also, 240 settlements remain without electricity due to bad weather.

As of the morning of December 16, 240 settlements in Donetsk and Kharkiv regions are without electricity due to severe weather conditions. Another 443 settlements are without power as a result of hostilities and for technical reasons. This is reported by UNN with reference to the Ministry of Energy. 

Details

The Ministry said that no shortage of electricity has been recorded and is not expected for the current day. The generation produced by Ukrainian power plants is sufficient to cover the needs of consumers.

During the day, a thermal power plant unit was accidentally shut down, which has already been brought back online. It is noted that the mines, which were without voltage due to the de-energization of the 110 kV line, have been powered.

Blackout schedules are not applied in any of the regions. The situation is under control. The power system is balanced

- the Ministry of Energy emphasizes.

The Ministry adds that electricity imports for the current day are planned at 8,941 MWh. No exports are planned.

Addendum

The Ministry of Energy urged Ukrainians to save electricity during peak consumption hours (on weekends from 10:00 to 12:00 in the morning and from 16:00 to 18:00 in the evening).
