A register of chemicals will be created in Ukraine: what it means

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the procedure for maintaining the State Register of Chemicals. The register will contain information on all chemicals produced, imported and made available on the market in volumes exceeding 1 ton per year.
A register of chemicals will be created in Ukraine, where information will be entered on all chemicals produced, imported and provided on the Ukrainian market in volumes exceeding one ton per year. This was stated by the Ministry of Environment, UNN reports.

It is noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved the Procedure for Maintaining the State Register of Chemicals. The Ministry of Environment emphasizes that this will ensure new standards of chemical safety and bring Ukraine closer to the EU.
It is envisaged that of the Register will contain information on all chemicals produced, imported and provided on the Ukrainian market in volumes exceeding one ton per year.
These are not only substances used in industry, but also those used in everyday life. For example, in cleaning products and paints, items such as clothing, furniture and electrical appliances, etc.
Olena Kramarenko, Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine, emphasized that registration of such chemicals is mandatory in Ukraine in accordance with the Technical Regulations on the Safety of Chemical Products
This document was approved by the Government at the end of July this year. By it, Ukraine implemented the provisions of the relevant European REACH Regulation.
Thus, the Register will become an official open database of chemicals. Everyone will be able to find there not only information about manufacturers, importers or suppliers, but also about the hazardous properties of chemical products, the volume of their supply to the market, classification according to international standards, possible risks and safety measures, etc

The ministry adds that the state register of chemicals will be created on the EcoSystem, the only national online environmental platform.
Currently, the Ministry of Ecology is working on developing a special module of the EcoSystem - the Chemical Safety Information System, which will host the Register. It should be launched in six months.
