A long dam burst at the Kialym reservoir in the Chelyabinsk region due to heavy rainfall. A state of emergency was declared and residents of nearby villages were warned of possible evacuation.

In Russia, a dam burst at the Kialym reservoir in the Chelyabinsk region. According to Russian emergency responders, a 100-meter-long part of the dam was "demolished" due to precipitation. This was reported by UNN with reference to Russian media.

It is noted that the operational headquarters of the Karabakh city district called on residents of the villages located in the flood zone - Kiolim, Mukhametov, Karasayev, Baidashev, Saktaev - to be prepared for evacuation.

A state of emergency has been declared in the district.

The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations also confirmed that as a result of heavy rainfall and increased water inflow into the Kialym reservoir, a 100-meter-long dam was washed away (the dam is about 500 meters long).

Locals are already posting videos from the flooded region. According to the Russians, in some places the water has already flooded houses - people have to climb onto the roofs of buildings.

The Kialimskoye Reservoir is a reservoir on the border of the Karabakh and Mia city districts, created in 1979. It is a hydrological natural monument of regional significance. The official area of the reservoir is 441 km², and the volume is 14.56 km³.
