A court has convicted a teenager who caused a fatal accident on aerospace Avenue in Kharkiv by running a red light. The driver of the injured car was killed, and three passengers were injured.

Kharkiv was found guilty of violating traffic safety rules, which resulted in the death of a person and injuries to three other victims.
Prosecutors proved that on October 26, 2021, at about 20:40, a Chevrolet Aveo car driven by a 58 — year-old man and an Infinity Q50 car driven by a 16-year-old driver who was driving at a red traffic light collided near the intersection of Gagarin Avenue (now aerospace) and Odesskaya street in Kharkiv.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the car "Chevrolet Aveo" died on the spot.
After the accident, the 16-year-old driver and three passengers of the Infinity Q50, namely two 19-year-old men and a 16-year-old girl, were taken to the hospital with injuries.
In a medical facility, the 16-year-old defendant provided incorrect personal data, indicated an incorrect residential address, and also tried to leave the hospital, but was detained by police officers
In addition, it is established that the minor boy was previously brought to justice for committing administrative and criminal offenses. So, in July 2021, the court found him guilty of causing intentional moderate bodily injury (Part 1 of Article 122 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and imposed a sentence of imprisonment for a period of 2 years with probation for a period of 1 year.
The prosecutor noted that the guilt of the accused was fully proved and confirmed by evidence that was thoroughly examined by the court.
The attacker was waiting for the verdict while in custody.
By the verdict of the Chervonozavodsky District Court of Kharkiv, he was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for 3 years. In addition, the convict must pay one million hryvnias each to both children of the deceased driver
The deadline for appeal is currently underway.
