14-year-old Ukrainian chess player wins the title of international grandmaster

Ihor Samunenkov, a 14-year-old Ukrainian, has become the world's youngest international chess grandmaster. He fulfilled the grandmaster standard at competitions in Slovenia, Hungary, and Poland.
By the decision of the Third FIDE Council, the title of international grandmaster title was awarded to a 14-year-old player of the Kyiv Regional Chess Federation, Ihor Samunenkov. This was reported by the Federation on its Facebook page, reports UNN.

Igor Samunenkov has been playing chess professionally for eight years, and has won numerous awards and titles during this time.
The boy fulfilled 3 standards of an international grandmaster in such chess competitions:
- in Slovenia at the European Individual Chess Championship;
- in Hungary at the Vezerkepzo Summer GM 2023 tournament,
- in Poland, at the Polish Extraliga tournament.
In addition to being the fourth youngest player to win this title in Ukraine, Igor is now the youngest in the world, he is now the youngest grandmaster in the world.
