According to RFI, the three-day meeting of the heads of the ten member states of the ASEAN bloc began on Thursday in the capital Vientiane. The main issues on the agenda were the South China Sea and the conflict in Myanmar.
The meeting between Lavrov and Wang Yi took place the day after Wang held talks in China with Ukraine's chief diplomat, Dmytro Kuleba.
Before the previous meeting with the foreign ministers of China and Laos, Lavrov said that ASEAN is one of the most important elements of a new, more equitable multipolar world order.
The foreign ministers of Canada, India, and the United Kingdom arrived in Vientiane on Thursday to participate in the talks as partners in dialogue.
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken is also expected to attend the event.

Following a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba statedthat Ukraine can participate in the peace process if two principles are respected: no agreements on Ukraine without Ukraine and full respect for its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
