The Verkhovna Rada appointed Denys Shmyhal as the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, UNN reports.

The decision was supported by 267 people's deputies.

On July 16, the Verkhovna Rada supported the resignation of Denys Shmyhal from the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine.

Shmyhal's resignation means the automatic resignation of the entire Cabinet of Ministers.

Today, July 17, the Verkhovna Rada appointed Yulia Svyrydenko as the new Prime Minister of Ukraine.

What is known about Shmyhal

Born in 1975 in Lviv.

Full higher education – in 1997, he graduated from the State University "Lviv Polytechnic" with a degree in management in the production sphere (mechanical engineering), engineer-economist. Candidate of Economic Sciences (2003).

Work experience:

• 1995 - 2009 - held management positions at enterprises in Lviv;

• 2009 - 2013 - moved to work at the Lviv Regional State Administration;

• In 2014, he became deputy head of the main department of the Ministry of Revenues of Lviv region;

• 2015-2017 - advisor, vice-president, general director, member of the Supervisory Board of LLC TVK "Lvivkholod";

• 2017-2019 - Deputy General Director for Social Affairs of PJSC "DTEK Zakhidenergo", Director of DTEK Burshtynska TPP, Acting Deputy General Director for Social Affairs of PJSC "DTEK Zakhidenergo"; Burshtyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region;

• From August 2019 to February 2020 - Head of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional State Administration;

• February 4 - March 4, 2020 - Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine - Minister of Community and Territorial Development of Ukraine;

• March 4, 2020 - appointed to the post of Prime Minister of Ukraine.
