U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has not confirmed that a preliminary agreement to extend the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran has already entered into force. This was reported by the Associated Press, according to UNN.

During a White House briefing, Bessent repeatedly responded to journalists' questions regarding reports of a possible memorandum of understanding between Washington and Tehran. At the same time, he stated that he had not discussed this issue with President Donald Trump before his appearance.

The Secretary also emphasized that Trump demands that Iran open the Strait of Hormuz for shipping, dispose of highly enriched uranium, and abandon its nuclear program.
According to Bessent, Oman's ambassador to the U.S. assured Washington that his country "has no plans to establish a toll for passage through the strait."
The day before, Trump threatened Oman with consequences in the event of agreements with Iran regarding joint control over the Strait of Hormuz. Bessent himself stated that the president only wanted to "emphasize the freedom of navigation in the strait."
