The German Chancellor stated that Ukraine is preparing for full EU membership. For integration, the country must meet all standard criteria and conditions.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that Ukraine's future membership in the European Union will not be "second-class membership," but rather a full-fledged integration process with the fulfillment of all necessary criteria. He said this during a joint briefing with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Berlin, UNN reports.

According to the Chancellor, the European Union is currently working on a phased rapprochement of Ukraine with the community, but the ultimate goal remains unchanged - full membership.

He added that joining the European Union entails fulfilling specific conditions that apply to all candidate countries without exception.
