The Head of the Office of the President, Kyrylo Budanov, held a meeting with representatives of the Defense Forces and People's Deputies regarding the involvement of foreigners and stateless persons in military service under contract in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard. Details
During the meeting, the conditions of service for foreigners already involved in the defense of Ukraine, as well as the possibilities for continued recruitment, were discussed.
Budanov noted that currently, the recruitment, determination of fitness levels, and training of contract soldiers from other countries are carried out by various structures, which complicates the system of control, coordination of needs, and provision for the military.
Ukraine needs to create a single coordination center for the involvement of foreigners in military service. This should be a structural unit that must cover all stages: from search, selection, and transportation to training, provision, and other needs of foreign citizens
Budanov's deputy, Pavlo Palisa, added that the training of foreigners and their provision could be partially undertaken by specific units of the AFU or the National Guard, which are interested not only in replenishing personnel but also in training according to their own experience and methodology.
In addition, the meeting discussed the involvement of translators for effective communication.
The meeting participants agreed to work through May on the creation of a corresponding structural unit within the Ministry of Defense, present a development program for the recruitment system of foreigners and stateless persons, and develop proposals for the legislative regulation of problematic issues. The new unit is intended to support military personnel throughout their entire period of service.
