A 33-year-old resident of the Donetsk region, who participated in the abduction and torture of civilians during the occupation of the Kherson region, has been sentenced to life imprisonment with confiscation of property. According to the investigation, together with Russian military personnel, he beat people, threatened them with death, and simulated executions by firing shots over the victims' heads. The court found the man guilty of high treason, participation in an illegal armed formation, and cruel treatment of the civilian population.
According to the prosecution, in 2022, he joined the illegal armed formation of the "DPR" and served as a rifleman in a mobilization reserve unit of the Russian Federation.

The investigation established that near the village of Tomaryne, he and Russian military personnel stopped a car with three civilian men. Threatening them with weapons, they abducted them and held them for three days in an underground concrete collector of a pumping station.

The prosecutor's office noted that the victims were kept in the cold, without food, water, or medical assistance. Their personal belongings and car were also seized.
Later, the men were transported blindfolded to a seized building in Nova Kakhovka, where they spent another three days along with other illegally detained people.
After interrogations, the civilians were released.
The verdict was delivered under the procedure of special judicial proceedings. The sentence will be executed after the convict is apprehended.
