US and Iranian negotiators have agreed on a memorandum regarding a truce and nuclear negotiations. President Trump has taken several days to deliberate before approving the document.

American and Iranian negotiators have agreed on a draft 60-day memorandum to extend the ceasefire and launch negotiations on Iran's nuclear program, but US President Donald Trump has not yet given final approval to the document. This was reported by Axios, according to UNN.

According to the publication, the memorandum could become the most significant diplomatic breakthrough since the start of the war, although a final agreement on Iran's nuclear program will require additional negotiations.

"This is an agreement to get everyone to the negotiating table. We will coordinate the details during the talks themselves," one US official stated.

As Axios writes, the terms of the document were largely agreed upon as early as Tuesday, but both sides required approval from their top leadership.

US officials claim that Iran subsequently indicated its readiness to sign the memorandum, though Tehran has not officially confirmed this.

According to the publication's sources, American negotiators presented the details of the deal to Trump, but he decided to take a few days to consider it.

"The President told the mediators that he wants a few days to think everything over," a US official said.

According to the draft document, shipping through the Strait of Hormuz must be "unrestricted." Iran will also be required to remove all mines from the strait within 30 days.

In addition, the US is to gradually lift the naval blockade as commercial shipping is restored.

The memorandum also includes a commitment from Iran not to develop nuclear weapons. The first topics of negotiations during the 60-day period are to be the issues of Iranian highly enriched uranium and enrichment limits.

The US, in turn, is ready to discuss sanctions relief and the unfreezing of Iranian assets.

At the same time, Axios notes that even during the finalization of the agreements over the past 48 hours, two incidents occurred between the US and Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.
