In Thailand, undercover police officers dressed in women's stage costumes to apprehend a methamphetamine trafficking suspect during a street dance festival. This was reported by The Telegraph, according to UNN.
Details
The operation took place in Lopburi Province in the north of the country. Six law enforcement officers, including five men, wearing glittery dancer costumes approached the suspect and detained him right during the celebrations. More than 50 methamphetamine tablets, hundreds of drug packaging bags, and a phone allegedly used for illegal gambling were seized from the man.
After the arrest, the officers posed for photos in their costumes alongside the handcuffed detainee. The image quickly went viral on social media. Later, Thai police admitted that some of the popular post-arrest photos were created or edited using artificial intelligence.
"We didn't want to just go out and arrest him; that would be a waste of money on costume rentals,"
This is not the first such case in Thailand – previously, law enforcement officers have used dragon costumes to apprehend suspects.
