Following US and Israeli strikes on Iran in late February, the Strait of Hormuz was effectively blocked, halting the movement of most vessels in the region. Donald Trump previously stated that a peace deal with Iran is "basically agreed upon," however, the Iranian agency Fars called these statements "far from reality."

According to Iranian media, 33 commercial vessels, including oil tankers and container ships, have passed through the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours after coordination with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
