On December 1, 2024, the state oil company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) started supplying gas to the Slovak state energy supplier SPP. These deliveries are carried out under a short-term pilot contract within the framework of cooperation between SOCAR and SPP, with the prospect of developing a long-term energy partnership.
SOCAR continues to diversify its gas export destinations, and Slovakia has become the 12th country receiving Azerbaijani gas, joining countries such as Turkey, Georgia, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, Slovenia, Croatia and North Macedonia.
