Selling fictitious certificates to draft dodgers for $16,000 - SBU detained parliamentary aides

The SBU detained two parliamentary aides for selling fake medical certificates and IDs. The suspects took money and then blocked clients after payment.

The Security Service of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, and the Prosecutor General's Office have exposed two assistants to current People's Deputies of Ukraine who were involved in "schemes for draft dodgers." This was reported by UNN with reference to the Security Service of Ukraine.

Details

According to the investigation, both individuals offered conscripts to avoid mobilization through forged medical documents or by traveling to the EU bypassing checkpoints. The cost of such "services" was 16,000 US dollars.

The assistants to the MPs offered clients the following "services":

  • fictitious conclusions from the military medical commission regarding unsuitability for service due to health conditions;
    • certificates of "disability";
      • fake certificates of volunteer territorial community formations in one of the regions of Ukraine.

        The investigation also established that after receiving the full amount, the individuals blocked their clients' phone numbers. Law enforcement officers apprehended the perpetrators "red-handed" after they received the money.

        During searches, smartphones with evidence of the criminal scheme, as well as money obtained through criminal means, were seized from them.

        The detainees have been notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud committed on a large scale). The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment from three to eight years.

        The State Bureau of Investigation completed investigative actions against a serviceman of the State Border Guard Service who offered men illegal exit from Ukraine for 3,000 US dollars. The perpetrator faces up to 8 years of imprisonment.
