Russian propaganda is spreading a fake claim that the damage to the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was allegedly caused by a missile from an American Patriot air defense system. In reality, according to the Ukrainian side, the temple was hit by a Russian Shahed-type strike drone, and the SBU has already released images of its wreckage. This was reported by the Center for Strategic Communications, according to UNN.

Reality: On the night of June 15, the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was hit by a Russian Shahed-type strike drone, stated the general director of the reserve, Maksym Ostapenko.

The SBU also showed the wreckage of the "Geran" drone, which the Rashists used to strike the Lavra.
The strike hit the altar part of the church – the St. Stephen's Chapel. Additionally, as a result of the massive attack, the Tower of John Kushnyk – a defensive structure from the 17th–18th centuries – was damaged.
To determine the type of ammunition, an inspection of the scene, analysis of the wreckage, and expert examinations are required. Being in Moscow and having no access to the strike site, the Russians physically could not "establish" the cause of the damage in less than an hour.
