Norway has announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth 3.2 billion Norwegian kroner (about 267 million euros), which includes important ammunition for F-16s and air defense within the JUMPSTART initiative for the procurement of American weapons, the Norwegian government reported on December 17, writes UNN.

"The government (of Norway) is funding ammunition for F-16 fighter jets, laser-guided missiles that can be used by F-16s or ground-based air defense systems, and long-range missiles worth approximately 3.2 billion Norwegian kroner (about 267 million euros) under the JUMPSTART initiative," the statement said.

"We expect a quick delivery of these weapons, which Ukraine depends on to counter Russian attacks and continue its resistance," said Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

JUMPSTART is based on the US Foreign Military Sales (FMS) scheme, where a complete set of military equipment and support services is purchased from the US Department of Defense, rather than from various subcontractors. Norway has long used FMS for procurements for its own defense sector. Norway has also previously provided JUMPSTART grants to support the donation of F-16s to Ukraine, including the procurement of spare parts and weapons, the Norwegian government stated.

"The new weapons package will be delivered in the near future," the statement said.

This weapons package is reportedly "composed of F-16 ammunition worth just over 1 billion kroner (83.5 million euros)." In addition, according to the report, "an advanced precision weapon system is being funded, which upgrades inexpensive missiles into high-precision weapons that can be used from aircraft or air defense systems." Furthermore, just over 0.5 billion kroner (about 42 million euros) is being spent on S-300 surface-to-air missiles."

In 2025, 10 billion kroner (834.6 million euros) were reportedly spent on the American JUMPSTART program.
