Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko signed an order to create a working group for the regulatory and legal settlement of issues regarding the circulation of civilian weapons, UNN reports.
Details
The Minister emphasized that the issue of normalizing the circulation of civilian firearms remains one of the most important for the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"Today I signed an order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the creation of a working group for the regulatory and legal settlement of issues regarding the circulation of civilian weapons. It is within this platform that agreed positions will become proposals to be sent to the relevant Committee of the Verkhovna Rada,"
According to him, during previous consultations, two issues were identified that require priority processing.
"First: a clear and understandable procedure for obtaining a weapons permit. Second: the issue of responsibility and self-defense. Other aspects are also important. But without settling these basic issues, it will be difficult to move forward. A high-quality result is born from focus, not from the desire to discuss everything at once. There is much work ahead. Our task is to develop clear, fair, and safe rules that will take into account both the rights of citizens and the security interests of the state,"
