Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitaliy Koval stated that there are no threats to the sowing campaign and an increase in wheat crops. He said this on the air of the telethon on Thursday, UNN writes.

Details

"... we do not have any threats to the sowing campaign at the moment," said the Minister of Agrarian Policy.

"This year there will definitely be more wheat. This is a good factor for ensuring the domestic market and exports. We see approximately the same volumes as last year in terms of the area sown with corn. Approximately 24 million hectares of Ukrainian land will be involved in agricultural production this year," Koval said.

According to him, since Ukrainian farmers are guided by world prices, along with wheat and corn, they prefer to sow technical crops - sunflower and soybeans, because they have good profitability.

According to the minister, the Ukrainian "grain corridor" is also working thanks to the Armed Forces. January and February showed that 90% of agricultural products are transported by sea. Ukrainian products are delivered to Africa, Malaysia, the Middle East, which increases the presence of Ukrainian products in the world.

Further supply of Ukrainian products to the EU

Ukraine remains a large exporter of agricultural products to the EU and is also an importer, as it buys equipment for work in the field and fertilizers mainly in Europe. According to Koval, the recent large-scale meeting of Ukrainian and Polish farmers gave hope for uninterrupted trade without obstacles and excessive quotas between Ukraine and the EU after June 5.

Extraordinary trade measures EU allowed the abolition of duties and quotas on Ukrainian exports. But they are due to end on June 5.

"60% of all foreign exchange earnings are brought to Ukraine by farmers, which is about 15% of our country's GDP, so it is important to support the agricultural sector and invest in it," Koval noted.

Earlier

UNN wrote that the new law "On Agrarian Receipts" introduces electronic agricultural receipts as a new financial instrument for lending to agricultural production in Ukraine, providing such advantages as easier circulation, expanded collateral opportunities, reliability guarantees and increased access to loans for farmers.
