The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine draws the attention of the international community to the serious aggravation of the humanitarian situation in certain areas of the temporarily occupied territories of the Kherson region as a result of the crimes of the Russian occupiers, which flagrantly violate international humanitarian law. This is stated in a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UNN reports.
Details
It is noted that the situation in Oleshky, Hola Prystan, as well as Stara Zburivka and Nova Zburivka in the Kherson region, where there is a complete lack of proper conditions to meet the basic needs of local residents, including children, is of particular concern.
The Russian occupiers are artificially blocking the departure of people and creating obstacles to the supply of basic consumer goods, food, and medicine. The population has decreased from 40,000 to about 6,000 people, and in the city of Oleshky – from 24,000 to about 2,000. Critical infrastructure is effectively destroyed, and electricity and gas supplies are absent. The settlements are on the brink of survival. Civilians trying to buy food or leave the city in their own vehicles are targeted by Russian drone attacks
They emphasize that in total, more than 6,000 people may need humanitarian aid, including about 200 children. Most of these people have limited mobility. At the same time, various state bodies have received more than 220 direct requests for the evacuation of residents from the mentioned settlements as of now.
We also have horrific testimonies from people who lost their loved ones as a result of Russian attacks but are unable to bury them properly due to constant hostilities. Local residents are unable to leave the dangerous areas and are forced to survive in inhuman conditions - often without access to drinking water, food, and necessary medicines
They added that they have begun urgent consultations with international partners – the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross – on ways to save our citizens who find themselves in a difficult situation due to the actions of the Russian occupiers.
"Information about Russian crimes will be passed to international monitoring missions. For Ukraine, nothing is more important than human lives. We call on the international community to take concrete and urgent actions to save our citizens in the temporarily occupied Kherson region," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs summarized.
As a reminder
In the occupied Kherson region, the Russians introduced online payment for school meals. Despite regular payments, children remain hungry.
