French President Emmanuel Macron announced the death of a French peacekeeper in Lebanon, with three others wounded. He wrote about it on the social network "X", UNN reports.
Details
This happened in southern Lebanon on the second day of the ceasefire with Israel. The deceased was identified as Staff Sergeant Florian Montorio from the 17th Parachute Engineer Regiment.
Three of his comrades-in-arms were wounded and evacuated. All indications are that Hezbollah is responsible for this attack. France demands that the Lebanese authorities immediately apprehend those responsible and take responsibility.
Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the attack on the French contingent of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
I have given strict instructions to conduct an immediate investigation to determine the circumstances of these attacks and bring the perpetrators to justice. It is clear that such irresponsible behavior causes significant damage to Lebanon and its relations with friendly countries that support it in the world.
Recall
On Friday, April 17, a 10-day ceasefire began between Lebanon and Israel.
UNN also reported that US President Donald Trump demanded that Israel stop shelling Lebanon.
