Commenting on the intention of US presidential candidate Donald Trump to appoint Republican Senator Jay De Vance as Vice President, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis said that "we are entering the territory of uncertainty". We are, of course, crossing a border, perhaps, or entering a territory and a history of uncertainty, where it is difficult to predict with certainty the actions of both partners and adversaries
The minister also noted that in line with Lithuania's principled position of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, he would not comment further.
Lithuania does not participate in the elections in the United States of America, we cannot vote, we cannot help elect candidates for the vice presidency or other positions, and therefore I would not like to interfere in this process in any way, even with public comments
When asked what Vance's candidacy could mean for Ukraine, Landsbergis said that it means that "we are entering the unknown." "Whether some harsh statements will be implemented or not, we cannot say today," the minister said.
