The Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Army, Major General Amir Khatami, warned on Monday that any attempt by American aircraft carriers to approach the Strait of Hormuz would be met with force, stating that Iran has deployed "cruise missiles and combat drones," UNN reports.
"American aircraft carriers, thanks to the stealth of radar silence, imagined they could approach the Strait of Hormuz; but our response was fire," Khatami said in a post on X.

He added that "cruise missiles and combat drones took to the skies" and called regional security an inherent priority for Iran.
Khatami also said that Iranian forces are conducting close surveillance of the Persian Gulf, adding: "Every inch of these waters is within our will."
The US military said earlier today that two US-flagged merchant vessels successfully passed through the Strait of Hormuz. Tehran denied this, calling the US Central Command's statement "baseless" and an "outright lie."
