104 million hryvnias for energy protection. This is exactly how much the state lost due to inflated prices during the construction of critical infrastructure protection in Zakarpattia; an official has been served with a notice of suspicion. This was reported by the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko, according to UNN.
Details
According to the Prosecutor General, during the war, every energy facility has a special value. It is not just concrete, metal, or construction work. It is the protection of people, the stability of the energy system, and the security of the country. But even under such conditions, there are those who see state projects not as a responsibility, but as an opportunity to profit.
Embezzlement of budget funds has been uncovered during the construction of engineering and technical protection for an electrical substation in Zakarpattia, which is classified as a critical infrastructure facility in the fuel and energy sector
According to the investigation, the former head of the Service for Restoration and Development of Infrastructure in the Zakarpattia region approved and signed documents with significantly inflated prices for construction materials.
One example is special drilling tools for performing the work. In the documents, their cost exceeded the market price by more than five times. And this is not an isolated case. Expert examinations confirmed losses to the state of over 104.9 million UAH.
During the searches, documents with real commercial offers from suppliers were found, indicating that the official knew the actual cost of the materials. That is, we are not talking about a calculation error or negligence. We are talking about a conscious choice in favor of inflated prices at the state's expense
According to the Prosecutor General, the official has been notified of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
I want to emphasize separately: the theft of funds allocated for the protection of critical infrastructure in wartime conditions is not just corruption. It is a blow to the state's resilience. The investigation is ongoing. We are identifying everyone involved in the scheme and the role of each individual. We continue our work
