Michael Roth of the SPD called on the German leadership not to cut military aid to Ukraine. He emphasized that the Ukrainian army needs the full support of its most important military ally in Europe.

Chairman of the Bundestag Foreign Affairs Committee Michael Roth of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), a member of the ruling coalition, called on the German leadership not to cut military aid to Ukraine. UNN reports with reference to Deutsche Welle.

It would be a fatal signal from the German government toward Ukraine if future federal budgets did not include funds for new military aid

- he said.

Roth added that the Ukrainian army has gone on the offensive and now needs the full support of its most important military ally in Europe, Germany. In his opinion, the debate about the future funding of military aid looks like a veiled avoidance of Germany's responsibility.

Earlier, other German politicians criticized the refusal to provide additional assistance to Ukraine. Norbert Röttgen, a foreign policy expert of the opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU), for example, accused the ruling coalition, which may stop further assistance to Ukraine due to internal political disputes, of trying to engage in Trump-style politics.

The plans to cut off additional aid to Kyiv were also criticized by the Green Party, which is part of the German government.

Ukraine clearly needs our full solidarity and support in the future. For this purpose, all necessary financial resources should be provided

- said Britta Hasselmann, head of the Green Party in the Bundestag, in X.

Recall

Due to disputes in the German government, Ukraine lost military aid worth 3.87 billion euros. The Ministries of Finance and Defense blame each other and Chancellor Scholz for the ban on submitting financial claims.

However, the German Ministry of Finance denied the information about the complete cessation of aid to Ukraine from 2025. Part of the bilateral aid will be transferred to international programs, including $50 billion in G7 loans.
