A Russian court in Chelyabinsk has denied the lawyers' petition for the release of seriously ill Crimean political prisoner Tofik Abdulgaziyev. This was reported by the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets. He also said that he had sent an appeal to the Russian Ombudsman demanding the immediate release of Tatar Tofik Abdulgaziyev. This was reported by UNN.
Seriously ill Crimean political prisoner Tofik Abdulgaziyev still remains under arrest - Metallurgical District Court of Chelyabinsk rejected the lawyers' petition for his release!
According to him, due to improper detention in places of detention and failure to provide timely and proper medical care, Abdulgaziyev lost 40 kg. He has developed health problems that did not exist before his arrest.
In March 2024, due to a sharp deterioration in his health, Abdulgaziyev was hospitalized and diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis and a number of other serious illnesses.
Lubinets reminded that last year two Crimean political prisoners died in Russian prisons - Dzhemil Gafarov and Konstantin Shiring. They had health problems, but never received any help.
He sent an appeal to the Russian Ombudsman demanding the immediate release of a seriously ill Crimean Tatar, Tofik Abdulgaziyev. I also sent an appeal to my international colleagues from Turkey, Qatar, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia to assist in the release of the illegally imprisoned man due to incurable life-threatening illnesses. I once again call on the international community to increase pressure on Russia, including sanctions, to release all illegally detained citizens of Ukraine
