US Vice President Kamala Harris influenced Germany and Slovenia to meet Russia's demands for a prisoner exchange. An unnamed White House official told the newspaper that during the talks in this format, Harris spoke about the crucial importance of the release of Vadim Krasikov, who was sentenced to prison in Germany, in the prisoner exchange with Russia.
The media claims that the vice president pressured Scholz to facilitate Krasikov's exchange. Since then, according to CNN, U.S. officials have admitted that the FSB hitman was the “biggest fish” the Russians wanted.
During her trip to the Munich Security Conference, Harris held talks with Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob. She persuaded the head of the Slovenian government to secure the release of two Russian citizens who were detained in Slovenia (Artem and Anna Dultsev, who had previously been spying for Russia, were detained there).
