Photos of the Chinese J-36, a sixth-generation aircraft with a "flying wing" design, have appeared online. Experts note the unusual configuration of the engines, which may provide additional thrust.

The network has footage of the Chinese J-36 fighter jet - a sixth-generation aircraft with a "flying wing" design, three engines and no vertical tail. First photographed over a highway near the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Group plant in Sichuan Province, the aircraft has caused a stir among experts and analysts. This is reported by UNN with reference to CNN.

Details

According to CNN, it is unknown when the video was taken, but it has become popular on Chinese social networks and has attracted the attention of international observers.

It is assumed that this aircraft will be a sixth-generation aircraft, which will use the latest stealth technology, avionics, power plant and airframe design.

- the statement reads.

Military aviation expert Davide Cenciotti noted the unusual configuration of the engines - two air intakes under the wings and one on the back of the aircraft, which may provide additional thrust and reliability in case of engine failure.

According to him, the space on the aircraft's fuselage allows for internal armament bays that will allow it to carry long-range strike missiles. If this is confirmed, China will significantly close the gap with the United States in the race for dominance in the creation of sixth-generation fighters.

American fifth-generation military aircraft - the twin-engine F-22 and the single-engine F-35 are considered the best in the world today, although China also has two fifth-generation models - the J-20 and J-35

- CNN reports.

In March, US President Donald Trump announced that Boeing had been awarded a contract to develop the US sixth-generation F-47 fighter. The prototype is allegedly already undergoing testing for five years, but the timing of combat deployment has not yet been announced.

Interestingly, simultaneously with the appearance of images of the J-36 in December last year, photos of another Chinese aircraft appeared on the network - a tailless twin-engine fighter, provisionally named J-XX or J-50. None of the aircraft have been officially recognized by Beijing, but Chinese state media noted that the country is actively advancing in the development of the latest aviation.

It is known that the development of the Chinese J-35 lasted more than 10 years, and only in 2024 it was first publicly presented at the air show in Zhuhai.
