On Wednesday, August 14, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed steps to cease fire in the Gaza Strip and what Erdogan called the "silence of the West in the face of the growing number of victims" in Gaza. This is reported by France 24, reports UNN.
Details
As noted, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara on Wednesday for talks on a ceasefire, a day after a visit to Moscow.
Abbas and Erdogan discussed the "mass killings committed by Israel in the Palestinian territories" as well as "the steps that need to be taken for a permanent ceasefire and peace".
Erdogan again stated the silence, in his opinion, of some Western countries on the increase in the number of casualties in Gaza and said that this is "unacceptable".
He also pointed out that all countries should step up their efforts for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and ensure uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.
Addition
Erdogan fiercely criticizes Israel's actions in the war sparked by Hamas attacks on October 7, and calls Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the "butcher of Gaza".
While Hamas is considered a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union and Israel, Erdogan called it a "liberation movement".

The ceasefire in Gaza was also discussed by former US President Trump with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu. The conversation took place on the eve of an important round of talks in Doha with the participation of the USA, Qatar, Egypt and Israel.
