SBU military counterintelligence officers detained a Russian intelligence agent in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The perpetrator was directing "Geran-3" type jet drones (an analogue of the Iranian "Shahed-238" UAV - ed.). This was reported by UNN with reference to the Security Service of Ukraine.
Details
The detainee turned out to be a local unemployed man who was recruited by the Russians. He came to the attention of the enemy special services while looking for "easy money" via his nephew's account on Telegram channels.
He was tasked with adjusting air strikes against the Ukrainian Defense Forces in the region. This concerned the positions of Ukrainian artillery, specifically HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems.
In addition, the suspect tracked the movement routes of Ukrainian Defense Forces' armored vehicles toward the front for the Russians. For conspiracy purposes, the perpetrator used his nephew's phone and a pre-arranged cipher.
Counterintelligence detained the man "red-handed." During the search, smartphones he used to collect data and contact Russian special services were discovered and seized.
The detainee was notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (high treason committed under martial law). The sanction provides for imprisonment from 15 years to life with confiscation of property.
