British military forces are preparing for a potential demining operation in the Strait of Hormuz following the escalation of the situation surrounding Iran and the blockage of shipping in the region. This was reported by the Associated Press, according to UNN.

On board the British vessel RFA Lyme Bay, currently off the coast of Gibraltar, hundreds of sailors are awaiting potential deployment as part of an international mission led by the United Kingdom and France. Ammunition and maritime drones equipped with sonar for mine detection are already being loaded onto the ship.
UK Minister for the Armed Forces Al Carns stated that RFA Lyme Bay could soon join the British destroyer HMS Dragon and allied ships before heading to the Persian Gulf via the Suez Canal.
According to Carns, at least 6,000 vessels have been unable to pass through the strait since the beginning of the conflict due to the blockage. He also emphasized that the United Kingdom is ready to coordinate an international operation to restore maritime security.
At the same time, US President Donald Trump previously criticized NATO allies for insufficient support of American actions against Iran. On Saturday, he stated that a peace deal with Tehran is already "largely agreed upon," although final agreements have not yet been reached.
